That goes for every single banana, so you’ll never have to ask the question how many calories in a banana again!

The recommended calorie intake per day for a female adult is 2000 calories so an average sized banana is 5.7% of your daily calorie allowance and it is also one of your five a day. For male adults the recommended calorie intake per day is slightly higher at 2500, so a normal sized banana would be 4.6% of the correct daily calorie intake.

If you are dieting then bananas are a perfect fruit to include in your meals plans as they contain nearly no fat, for every 100g of raw, peeled banana there is only around 0.3g of fat. To put that into perspective, that is just around 0.4% of your daily recommended fat intake, that’s for men and women, you’d need to eat around 250 bananas in a day to go over!

In terms of cost as well, bananas are extremely cheap, in the US you can get bananas for around $0.60 to $1.60 per pound (varies across the US) and in the UK you can get bananas for approximately £1 per kilogram.

They have a huge amount of uses as well along with just eating them normally, you can add them to breakfast cereals, make smoothies or fresh juice with them or even add them to ice cream or chocolate for a moderately health dessert.
